This collection documents the impact of the Revolutionary War upon individual traders and merchants.

Benjamin, James and Charles Jarvis were merchants in Norwalk, CT who arranged shipments of goods between New England, Europe and the West Indies. Their main cargoes were molasses, wine and indigo. Unfortunately, very little biographical information exists on the Jarvis brothers. Letters and records in the collection indicate that the family possibly came from New York.
